Why was my payment declined?

  • Updated

If your payment didn’t go through, it’s usually due to a quick security check or a payment method limitation. Below are the most common reasons and what you can do to resolve the issue.

Common reasons a payment may fail

  1. Insufficient funds or account limits. Even small differences (for example, currency conversion fees) can cause a transaction to be declined.

  2. Bank security checks. Some banks block online or international transactions that look unusual.

  3. Card restrictions. Certain cards can’t be used for international payments or online purchases. Prepaid or virtual cards may also have additional limits.

  4. Expired card or incorrect details. Double-check that your card is valid and all payment details are entered correctly.

How to fix it

  • Contact your bank or card provider. Ask whether the transaction was declined due to a security block or payment restriction, and request them to allow the payment.

  • Try another payment method. If possible, use a different card or an alternative option (for example, PayPal, if available).

  • Check for typos. Review your card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing details.
